Nature and Scope:


This position is responsible for quickly and accurately assessing the condition of the patient presenting at the clinic, to ensure proper handling of controlled medications maintained within the clinic, to administer medications as ordered by the clinic providers in accordance with established policies, to generally oversee patient care in order to maintain continuity and to provide prompt triaging and appropriate processing of all patients presenting to Urgent Care for evaluation and/or treatment, this will include--but not be limited to--carrying out the provider&apos;s orders for care, making referral arrangements, and doing call-backs on previous patients.  This position is also responsible for the supervision of Licensed Practical Nurses and Medical Office Assistants in the performance of their duties.
 
Challenges to this position are delivery of patient care complicated by new techniques, paperwork, changing department and hospital policies, increased information available on each patient, and fluctuations in staffing.
 
This position will keep abreast of all standards to assure compliance with federal, state and local regulatory agencies and ensure compliance with federal, state, and local regulatory agencies including third party reimbursement requirements.  
 
The occupant of this position generally works indoors with many pieces of equipment.  These may malfunction and expose the incumbent to hazards.  In addition, patients may be infectious with biological agents.  Specific breakdowns for temperature, humidity, and other hazards may occur.
