NYU Langone Medical Center is Hiring RNs and NPs

Where ordinary doesn’t exist

At NYU Langone Medical Center, we don’t believe there’s any such thing as an ordinary day. As one of the most respected academic research institutions in the country, we believe every day is a chance to learn something important. For nurses, this means taking an active role in innovating healthcare by questioning, challenging, and - most importantly - seeking to understand every procedure they perform. This emphasis on learning is part of our commitment to constant improvement. Since we are firm believers that healthcare decisions should be made as close to the bedside as possible, the key to our success is ensuring that our nurses continue to develop professionally while increasing their knowledge and clinical expertise.

New graduates of baccalaureate nursing programs are considered for hire on most clinical units. All new graduates join the Nurse Residency Program that provides an intensive, mentored, clinical work experience during the first year of practice. Expert nurses facilitate the new graduate’s development with special emphasis on critical thinking skills, leadership abilities, communication skills, research-based practice, patient safety, and professional career development.

With Doctors in Short Supply, Responsibilities for Nurses May Expand

The increase in demand may well put an end to a simmering policy dispute over the circumscribed role of nurse practitioners in medical care. If tens of millions of new patients enter the health care system, it seems clear that nurse practitioners will be needed to perform many of the tasks now performed by physicians.
